Before the hurricanes, there was Sand Glo—nestled by the sea, kissed by the sun, and cherished by every soul who wandered through its gates. It wasn’t just a motel. It was a mosaic of memories, built by Kat Hale—an innkeeper, an artist, a mother to the sands. Each of the six pastel cottages she lovingly created, told its own story.
Then the storms came. And everything changed. Devastation beyond understanding, and Kat decided to carry on. Her choice to rebuild beyond its former glory, is an inspiration to us all. Now, we rebuild. Not just buildings—but belonging, joy, and the scent of salt and love that used to drift from every sandy chair. Six seaside cottages were lost. A legacy was shaken. A woman who gives everything now needs us. When Hurricanes Helene & Milton tore through the Gulf Coast, they didn’t just damage buildings—they devastated a small, locally loved business. Sand Glo Villas, a hidden gem along the shoreline, was one of them. There is little to no disaster relief for small businesses like this. Insurance doesn’t come close. There are no government grants knocking. And the woman behind Sand Glo—the fiercely independent, deeply kind soul who created this place--would never ask for help. But she’s letting us. She’s kind enough to let us love her back. This is our moment as a community to come together. To raise the walls. To lift the roof. To bring back a place where countless memories have been made. |
